This is the second installment of ‘Mobile University’, or formerly known as ‘What I am Listening to in My Car’. I haven’t been spending a bunch of time in my car lately, but I continue to use that time for what Zig Ziglar calls “Mobile University”.

Back in 2005 I made the decision to stop being self-employed and started looking for full time employment. That is when I discovered my lack of college degree had really come back to bite me.

2006 started out as a resolve to take off the remaining pounds, but ended up adding 32 pounds to my body. One of the reasons for this gain was a school schedule that caused me to spend 10 weeks on my butt working for A’s. After I finished these 4 classes, David and I joined the local Cardinal Fitness and I started going several times a week. A really bad cold sidelined me for a number of weeks and the holidays were another reason to eat (aren’t they always?).

Living on the southside of Indianapolis is always an interesting proposition. When we moved here from Columbus Indiana, the township’s school system was being run by an interim superintendent. A new superintendent named Dr. H. Douglas Williams (aka Doug Williams) was hired, provided with a 3 year contract, and the township moved forward.

I pulled Symanted Antivirus off of yet another home user’s computer when it failed to find all the parts of a trojan dropped on a new home client’s computer. One of the things I’ve noticed is that Symantec will zap a trojan…right after the dog-goned (G-Rated word) trojan drops its payload. Like that’s gonna help. This time the user had Trojan.Bankem.B on their system and Symantec failed to find ANY of the files even with up-to-date virus definitions. Fortunately AVG found the bad boys and so did Spybot Search & Destroy.

Well, I decided to go live with WordPress after only one day. I mean honestly, I don’t have to pay much attention to how the darn thing looks (and I think it looks great), only to what I’m writing. It’s not like I’m planning to write a book, or looking to be published. I just need a place to put my thoughts and one of those thoughts was how was I gonna do it?
This is a great little piece of software.

Right now I’ve got “The Millionaire Mind” on CD in my car. I’m on CD #7. The whole book is about what millionaires have in common (besides the obvious).
Most of them own their own businesses (and not particularly glamourous businesses).
They are relatively frugal.
They live below their means.
They are happily married.
This has been a really enlightening book and I highly recommend it. It’s a pretty easy “listen”.

What I plan to write here is what I have on my mind at any given time. You might not be interested, but heck, who knows?
I want to tell you about my kids and grandkids. They are amazing!!
Oh, BTW my youngest son, Craig, will be playing at the Bourbon Street Distillery here in Indianapolis on September 30 from 5pm-7pm. His band is a folk-bluegrass kind of band. Craig plays the guitar, fiddle, mandolin, and banjo in the band. They call themselves The Junkyard Dawgs (Craig lives by a junkyard, but the rent is free and the utilities are cheap and he is out of my house), Yellowood (reminds them of dog pee on wood), or the Jackson Brothers (no, none of them are Jacksons or brothers). Y’all need to come and hear them. They really are quite good.

I’ve been trying to decide which direction to go regarding the layout of my personal website. I started out with Mambo/Joomla. While I like Mambo/Joomla, I wanted this site to be more personal looking and more of what you would expect a personal blog site to look and feel.
So I downloaded WordPress and installed it in about 10 minutes. I found the theme and made a few modifications to the header to fit how I wanted the site to look using Photoshop and VOILA! a new website.
Let me know what you think!
